Main objectives of the Assessment:

To develop in depth knowledge in creative and virtual design theories, methods and evaluation tools. To familiarise students with a range of different types of IT, CAD, CAE and CAM software enabling them to make informed evaluations of current and future systems.

Brief Description of the Assessment:

This assignment has two parts: A and B, aiming to integrate solid modelling, product conceptual design and surface modelling, product rapid prototyping, design analysis and ergonomic evaluation techniques, UX/UI development and human modelling with CAD systems.

PART A: Modelling Techniques Portfolio. This part of the assignment chronicles your development through the completion of tutorials. At the end of each tutorial sheet is an exercise designed to test the learning and understanding of each topic. Complete each tutorial exercise and produce a 1-pagereport detailing your modelling methodology using the template provided with the assignment exercise. There will be 7 assignment tasks to complete. Exercise 1: Solid modelling and parametric design (SolidWorks). Exercise 2: Assemblies and rendering (SolidWorks). Exercise 3: Motion studies and constraints SolidWorks). Exercise 4: Stress analysis and FEA (SolidWorks). Exercise 5: Surface modelling(Rhino 3D).Exercise 6: Virtual human and ergonomic design (Jack). Exercise 7: UX/UI Prototyping (Axure).

PART B: CAD/CAM/CAE Deliverables related to the Professional Design Studio module This part of the assignment runs parallel to the professional design studio module. This is a self-determined and appropriate deliverable which may incorporate several of the topics covered but must incorporate the building of more than one CAD model to form an assembly which can then be tested/evaluated in a method chosen by you (Motion study, FEA, Axure or JACK). Communication of the model can either be high quality renders, animations or scaled RP models. You will produce a written report to accompany the computer models which will be assessed in the computer lab.

1.A single Zipped folder containing subfolders which contain ALL:model parts/assemblies/renders/videos for each model, plus the final reportin .pdf format2.Writing a summary report to explain your modelling, communication and evaluation, also including the Part A exercise reports.The zipped Submission folder is to be uploaded on to Wiseflowcontaining all modelling files and a backup copy of the report
